Emergency Medical Technician | EMT Basic

Emergency Medical Technician certificate classes are offered Fall and Spring semesters at the Anoka Technical College campus and off-site, customized classes are occasionally available.

Prepare for a new career handling medical emergencies as an EMT! This class is approved through the State of Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB). Students will engage in online course content, classroom skills sessions, and a clinical/patient experience scheduled with a hospital or emergency health care service.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) skill and written exams (these are an additional fee).  By passing the NREMT exams, you will receive National Registration and State of Minnesota certification as an EMT.

Requirements and Prerequisites:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to register.
  • A portion of this class is done online; students must have internet access and basic computer skills.
  • A background study is required
  • Influenza vaccine, Hepatitis B vaccine series and two step Mantoux are required prior to clinical.

EMT Refresher Courses Available | 24 and 40 hours

Topics will focus on NCCP required hours as established by the NREMT and meet EMT renewal guidelines for the State of Minnesota EMS Regulatory Board.
