Become part of the surgical team as an operating room nurse! This comprehensive course has been designed to provide Registered Nurses a thorough introduction to perioperative nursing. AORN’s Periop 101: A Core Curriculum online program is combined with lab experience in a simulated operating room and a clinical practicum to give nurses a well-rounded training experience. Discover the skills in patient assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making needed for the nurse to provide safe care for the surgical patient. Upon completion, nurses will receive a Certificate of Completion from AORN and Anoka Technical College for all contact hours.

Class:          April 16 – June 4   
        Live Virtual: April 16, 23, 30, May 14, 18, and 28 | 6:00 am – 8:00 am
        Anoka Technical College: May 19 and June 1, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
        Final Exam: Thursday, June 4, 6:00 am – 8:00 am

*Possible Clinical:     June 1 – July 31, 2026   

Course Requirements: Registered Nurse with current license, basic computer skills, internet access with video capability.

• *Clinical Experience is not guaranteed and will be based on hospital/surgery center availability for nurses not currently working in an operating room. If a clinical experience is available, the college will assign clinical sites. The student is responsible for travel to the clinical site.
• Potential clinical timeframe:     June 1 – July 31, 2026     
                  64 total hours; schedule determined with clinical site
• Clinical Requirements: Vaccination records, BLS certification, and background study (additional $10.50 fingerprinting fee).
